A Friend

A friend like you is hard to find
Tender, thoughtful and loving
A friend will gently give you a push
Never abuse your trust by shoving
A friend knows all the secrets you hide
And always through thick and thin
A friend is someone you can count on
When your world looks pretty grim
And when your life turns inside out
And others can't be found
A friend will put a smile on your face
And wash away your frown
A friend doesn't mind if you act like a fool
Do things you don't normally do
A friend will not criticize your actions
But will most likely join in with you
A friend will always stand up for you
When strangers put you down
And raise your spirits up again
When solutions can't be found
A friend will stay by your side
Forever and a day
I know you are my best friend
I wouldn't have it any other way
